Welcome to my complete beginners course

I’m Kelly, and I run a small, intimate yoga studio in Upper Ballinderry. I have been teaching for 8 years. I love what I do, and I look forward to sharing my classes, that are suitable for complete beginners, with you. Namaste.

Props that you will need to get started

Yoga Mat

The most important thing you need is a mat, i’d recommend at least 6mm thick, especially if you have knee issues. It doesn’t need to break the bank either, a budget of £25 will get you a good one. If you are buying one, the I like the Iuga Eco friendly Mat with alignment lines. You can get these easily online. TK Max usually has some good ones too.

Strap/Scarf or Belt

I recommend using a scarf, belt or strap for reaching the feet at the start, for stretching the hamstrings and for shoulder stretches. You don’t need to buy anything fancy, a long scarf will do.

Chair

A simple armless chair is great for chair yoga, and to help you balance if needed.

Wall Space

The wall is a great aid for stretching and for balancing too.

Blankets

Finally, for relaxation, it is great to have a blanket to put over you and keep warm.

Cushions

We use these to sit on for the hips and the legs, they can make difficult crossed legged postures a lot more comfortable.

Water

Yoga can be hot work! So make sure to have a water bottle to hand when you start your practice, so you can keep hydrated.
